Siteserv helps school build eco-greenhouse
Date: 23/03/2011
We are delighted to bring you details of a completely unique initiative of material reuse that Siteserv have helped Newton Primary School in Porthcawl achieve. Siteserv received a request last month to supply just under half a tonne of plastic bottles to the school to help them build an eco-greenhouse which would give the children of the school a chance to grow their own plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables.
The greenhouse was built with approximately 1500 individual bottles, and took 8 volunteers over 6 days to build. The children were instrumental in the build process, during which time they learnt about the theory of recycling and reuse. Siteserv are proud to be able to help on such a forward thinking and creative project and will be keeping in touch with the children at the school to see how their growing projects are progressing.
Mr Naish, assisted by Jan Herbert, at Newton Primary School extended their thanks for the contribution of Siteserv, and outlined his appreciation for what the greenhouse will mean for the school. They school now hope to build another structure out of recycled bottles and materials.
