FOCUS ON: A Testing Year!
Operations Director Richard O’Neill rounds-up on a testing year for all; how budget cuts have affected the industry; and what it has meant for our customers.
No doubt the last year has been a testing one for everyone. With the new coalition government has come a raft of budget cuts which has made it necessary for all industries look at how they are doing things. Cuts have directly affected the recycling and waste management industry, with public sector services under severe pressure to find savings wherever possible. Subsequently we have a duty as a private sector organisation to look towards innovative solutions to bridge the potential gaps in servicing.
One of our main responses has been to launch our innovative new incentive scheme, Sort & Save, which is detailed overleaf. On a commercial scale we have made sure to renew our commitment to develop the most cost-effective servicing solutions for all our customers.
This commitment has been rewarded with renewed contracts from several of our biggest clients, which illustrate that we must be doing something right! Namely, Georgia Pacific have renegotiated a further 3 years of partnership with us after successful tender, whilst we have gained the new contract for Total Waste Management at the RAF Base in St. Athan.
Many more customers have decided to stay with, and begin partnerships with us, and we look forward to working with all of you over the coming months.
Internally we have continued to invest in our products, services and infrastructure to ensure our services remain market leading solutions. Such an example can be found in the investment in a brand new picking line; which has seen our recyclable recovery rates rise impressivley from 65-95%. This has allowed us to work extensively to help local authorities increase their own recyclable recovery, while passing on cost saving benefits to our entire customer base.
Most importantly we want to extend our thanks to all of our council partners and customers of the last twelve months, and once again renew our commitment to work with you towards a more sustainable and cost-effective recycling future.
