The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) was introduced in January 2007 with the aim of encouraging the effective recycling of all household and commercial waste electrical material.
With such regulations enforcing stringent legislation on companies throughout the UK Siteserv has reacted by developing comprehensive and innovative waste electrical recycling solutions to help its customers meet tightening regulation.
We employ a range of science and technology to separate electrical materials and extract components helping to maximise the recovery of recyclables. See below for a general breakdown of recognised waste material directly affected by these regulations.
- large and small household appliances
- IT and telecommunication equipment;
- consumer equipment such as TVs, videos, hi-fi
- lighting, electrical and electronic tools (except large stationary industrial tools)
- toys, leisure and sports equipment
- automatic dispensers
- medical devices (these are exempt from the WEEE recycling and recovery targets)
- monitoring and control instruments
